a very good place to start.

gonna have to [respectfully?] disagree with mary poppins on this one. i'm not going to start at the beginning. i'm going to start right here, right now.

this is as much a beginning as any other day and to be quite honest, i need something of a new start.

it is easy to get discouraged even when you can feel the hunk of burnin' love and passion for what you're after every minute you live and breathe on this planet. you're one of many. many many. and they all seem to look like you but five pounds lighter and two zits fresher. and you start to think that those things matter or realize that they matter depending on how your day is going.

it's a recession. there's a pending strike. media is changing. people who started this year off with work are filling out their unemployment forms. things feel out of your control.

and that is exactly what you have to address: control. because life as an actor is very much out of your hands in so many ways, you have to accept that there sometimes will be very little you can do. but there's always something.

during a few free moments at my day job i pillaged www.imdb.com to compile a list of casting directors who use my type, who cast projects i really like and as i was leaving work i got a call for an audition tomorrow. when i got home and started this blog and opened a twitter account to track my acting career, i got another audition call for a project i'm really interested in.

so this is what i'm going to take from today: sometimes taking action with the few things that are left to you to control is all it takes to get the ball rolling again.

my goals for this week: book tomorrow's project, organize footage for demo reel, find someone who needs to add pictures to their portfolio to take some new headshots.
